Davis-Woodhall wins long jump with meeting record

USA’s Tara Davis-Woohdall equalled the 36-year-old meeting record of 7.05m set by Galina Chistyakova to win the women’s long jump. Her opening round leap laid down the gauntlet to a world-class field and try as they might, no one could threaten the Olympic champion’s opening salvo.

European indoor champion Larissa Iapichino of Italy came closest with 6.90m in the third round and the USA’s Jasmin Moore was the next best with 6.76m.

There was another top class field in the men’s discus which was won by Slovenia’s former world champion Kristjan Čeh with a third round 69.73m. Swedish Olympic and world gold medallist Daniel Ståhl uncorked a super final round throw of 69.53m but had to settle for second on this occasion.

Australia’s Olympic bronze medallist Matthew Denny was third with 68.14m. It was Čeh’s third Diamond League victory in Stockholm.
