{"id":1726,"date":"2024-06-02T18:10:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-02T18:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stockholm.diamondleague.com\/2024\/06\/02\/world-lead-for-sublime-girma-whist-eseme-takes-100m-glory\/"},"modified":"2024-06-02T18:10:00","modified_gmt":"2024-06-02T18:10:00","slug":"world-lead-for-sublime-girma-whist-eseme-takes-100m-glory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stockholm.diamondleague.com\/en\/world-lead-for-sublime-girma-whist-eseme-takes-100m-glory\/","title":{"rendered":"World lead for sublime Girma whist Eseme takes 100m glory\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Ethiopia\u2019s Olympic and world silver medalist, Lamecha Girma stormed to a magnificent 8:01.63 world-lead in the 3,000m steeplechase to enjoy a four-second victory over his compatriot, Samuel Firewu.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The winner in Xiamen earlier this season, 23-year-old Girma pulled Firewu &#8211; the winner in Doha &#8211; to a 8:05.78 personal best, as the world junior silver medalist finished almost five seconds clear of the remainder of the field.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the men\u2019s 100m, Cameroon\u2019s Emmanuel Eseme followed up his win in Marrakech with a 10.16 (-1.0) clocking.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The 30-year-old &#8211; who was third in Oslo a few days ago &#8211; pipped the USA\u2019s Kyree King to the top spot, with the Doha and Eugene 200m third-placer registering 10.18.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Eseme said afterwards: \u201dI just told myself to stick to the guys during the first part of the race, and I am really happy to come back with a second Diamond League victory this season. My season has gone pretty well so far thanks to my training setting in Portugal. Compared to last year I worked on my acceleration part and it paid off.
