The reigning Olympic champion returns to Stockholm Olympic Stadium for the first time since 2022 and will compete in her preferred event, the 800 metres. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to returning to Stockholm. It was disappointing to have to withdraw last year. I love the crowd at Stockholm Olympic Stadium and I\u2019m excited for a great race. I hope as many people as possible will be there,\u201d says Hodgkinson.<\/p>\n\n<p>After winning Olympic gold in Paris 2024, the British superstar faced a challenging period with injury setbacks. She was originally scheduled to open her season at BAUHAUS-galan last year but had to delay her return due to ongoing hamstring issues. At the World Championships, she had to settle for bronze. <\/p>\n\n<p>Now, however, the 800-metre runner has shown she is truly back. At the indoor meeting in Li\u00e9vin, France, in February, she clocked 1:54.87 \u2014 smashing Jolanda \u010ceplak\u2019s 24-year-old world record by nearly a full second. The time is also just two tenths slower than her outdoor personal best, which she set when winning Olympic gold in 2024.  <\/p>\n\n<p>If this form continues, she will be a strong contender for her first victory at BAUHAUS-galan on June 7. She has competed at the event twice before \u2014 in 2022 and 2021 \u2014 finishing second and fourth, respectively.
