The Swede is also the current European half marathon record holder.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Lutkenhaus has already made history as the youngest individual track and field world champion ever after storming to 800m gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Toruń.

All three now have their sights set on another fast performance in Stockholm.

For Hodgkinson, Sunday’s race represents another step in an exciting season after recently clocking a personal best of 51.14 over 400m in Rome as part of her preparations for the summer.

“I like to line up and give it my all, and I’m excited to just get things going, see where we’re at and just run,” she said.

The British star has deliberately incorporated more 400m speed into her training in recent years, believing it can unlock even more over her specialist distance.

“We’ve been wanting to work on that 400 speed and get it down,” she explained. “I’m excited for the next few weeks because I’m training for the 400 while also keeping my strength and endurance. It’s a real balance, and hopefully we can see all those pieces come together.”

Home favourite Almgren knows exactly what it feels like to produce magic in Stockholm. Last year he thrilled the home crowd by running 12:44.27 to break the European 5000m record on the same evening that Mondo Duplantis cleared another world pole vault record.

This year he steps down to the 1500m but is already dreaming of another breakthrough performance.

“Being a long-distance runner, I don’t get many shots at running fast in the 1500m,” Almgren said. “Every 1500m race could be my last one, so if I get the chance to run under 3:30 here in Stockholm, that’s something I want to take.”

He still vividly remembers the incredible atmosphere generated by last year’s crowd.

“There’s not a lot of people who get to experience something like that. Mondo broke the world record during a race, so the audience was already hyped up. Then they started shouting that Andreas was going for the European record and everyone stood up. It was such an amazing experience.”

Lutkenhaus, meanwhile, arrives for his Diamond League debut having already become one of athletics’ brightest young stars.

The American teenager stunned the world by winning the indoor world title over 800m and admits life has changed since becoming a professional athlete, although not as dramatically as he expected.

“There have definitely been a lot of changes, but also not a lot,” he said. “Still going to high school kind of made it a little bit easier, and winning the world indoor title was the cherry on top for this indoor season.”

Now he is eager to test himself against some of the world’s best on one of athletics’ biggest stages.

“I just want to go out there and compete to the best of my ability,” Lutkenhaus said. “I’m sure the pace is going to be really fast. I just want to put myself in a good position and see what we can do over the last 400 metres.”

With a world record holder, a European record holder and the youngest individual world champion in history all taking to the track, Sunday’s BAUHAUS-galan promises another unforgettable evening of distance running in Stockholm.

Three athletes who have already rewritten the record books arrive at the BAUHAUS-galan Stockholm...
[38
["post-3816","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-stockholm-en
["GET
