The City of Stockholm has installed a new track at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium. The new track was installed during the last summer. The track is the Conica’s top performing track CONIPUR Vmax. The stadium in Stockholm is ready for new records at BAUHAUS-galan 2 July.
After seven years, the former track surface was released just after the 2022 edition of BAUHAUS-galan, Stockholm Wanda Diamond League, which was a historical meeting with seven stadium records. One of them was the 6.16 in pole vault by Mondo Duplantis.
The Stockholm Olympic Stadium is now equipped with Conica's cutting-edge flooring solution, CONIPUR Vmax. This advanced track features a base layer designed to reflect energy and embedded air cells that efficiently return expended energy to the athletes. The top layer of the track enhances control and speed, catering to the demands of athletes from all disciplines. Developed in close collaboration with the German Sport University Cologne, this track has been successfully implemented in renowned venues such as Letzigrund Stadion in Zurich and Stade Louis II in Monaco, both prestigious Wanda Diamond League events.
It is worth noting the extraordinary performances witnessed on the CONIPUR Vmax track. Joshua Cheptegei from Uganda showcased its exceptional qualities at Monaco's Stadion Louis II 2020, shattering the 5000m world record that had stood for 16 years with an incredible time of 12:35.36. Moreover, Noah Lyles set new Meeting Records on the Vmax track in both Monaco and Zürich in 2022. Armand Duplantis also achieved a new meeting record in Zürich in the same year, while Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce established a new meeting record in Monaco and equalled it in Zürich. This athletic track not only delivers exceptional performance but also ignites our imagination with its seemingly limitless possibilities.
"We are very excited to have this new track installed at our stadium and look forward to see new stadium records and why not world records. I hope this track can positively surprise the athletes together with the magic stadium atmosphere", says Jan Kowalski, meeting director.
Lara Guillod CCO at CONICA says:
"We are ecstatic about the installation of the CONICA track at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm. It's a testament to the organizer and the city's commitment to providing a world-class sporting experience. With our top-performing track, CONIPUR Vmax, we anticipate the creation of new stadium records, and who knows, maybe even world records. We believe that the combination of this exceptional track and the enchanting stadium atmosphere will create unforgettable moments for both athletes and spectators."
