Sebastian Coe – Welcome to Diamond League 2025

Welcome to BAUHAUS-galan in Stockholm, the seventh Wanda Diamond League meeting of 2025.

The 2024 season was one to remember for athletics’ premier one-day meeting series. More than 1000 athletes from 95 nations competed in the 15 meetings, which were staged across 13 countries.

Seven world records, 18 area records, 90 national senior records and 13 Diamond League records were set. Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis rewrote the history books on three occasions in 2024, improving his pole vault world record at the Xiamen Diamond League (6.24m), then again at the Paris Olympics (6.25m), and finally adding another 1cm in Silesia (6.26m) to cap off a stellar season.

More unforgettable world record performances were set by Beatrice Chebet in Eugene (10,000m, 28:54.14), Faith Kipyegon (1500m, 3:49.04) and Yaroslava Mahuchikh (high jump, 2.10m) in Paris, Jessica Hull (2000m, 5:19.70) in Monaco, and Jakob Ingebrigtsen (3000m, 7:17.55) in Silesia.

The 16th annual Diamond League cycle sees 15 meetings take place across four continents, from Xiamen in April through to the final taking place at the Weltklasse Zürich on 27-28 August.

Many top athletes will use the prestigious Diamond League competitions to pit themselves against the best in our sport in preparation for the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 – the largest global sporting stage in 2025 – taking place in the Japanese capital from 13-21 September.

I have no doubt that 2025 will deliver more electrifying track and field moments. Enjoy every minute of the action.
