BAUHAUS-galan and sustainability
BAUHAUS-galan is a recurring event that attracts visitors to Stockholm every summer and is one of many Wanda Diamond League competitions. The aim of our athletics competition is to ensure that the event has as little impact on the environment as possible and is sustainable in both social and economic aspects. To take the gala in the right direction, a sustainability group has been appointed to focus on the sustainability work for the BAUHAUS gala. We want to be a role model for other organizers in Stockholm, Sweden and in the rest of the athletics world.
During 2023, we are working with sustainability certification via the company Greentime. In the tool from Greentime, there are demanding points within three overarching themes:
- Environment
- Organize
- Social

What you as a visitor can do
The majority of visitors to the BAUHAUS gala come to see the competitions and it is therefore of the utmost importance that you help us think, act and travel sustainably during the competition. In order to achieve the goals of the sustainability work, you as a visitor are an important part of our work. You can contribute and create a more sustainable event. Therefore, we would like you to pay attention to the following:
- Dispose of your rubbish in the designated place, sort according to instructions.
- Treat all competitors, volunteers and other visitors with respect.
- Contact a stand host if you feel unsafe or perceive something offensive.
- Take the train instead of flying if you are traveling from another city.
- Travel by public transport instead of taking the car, if you live near the Stadium we encourage you to take the bike or walk.
- Here you can calculate how much emissions your trip contributes for each mode of transport.

- Once in Stockholm, take the opportunity to discover the city with public transport, SL has everything you need to plan your trip.
- Choose an eco-labelled accommodation to further reduce your impact on the environment.
BAUHAUS gala sustainability policy in a concise format
Environment
In order to reduce our impact and consumption of resources, we need to do several things as an organizer but also encourage and inform visitors about what they can do.
Here we work with everything from requirements for the arena and how they handle chemicals, consume electricity to what our suppliers serve for food.
We base our travel policy on ensuring that we travel more sustainably and encourage our participants and visitors to do the same.
We think consistently: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Organisation
Creating a sustainable event is based on a sustainable organization that has a sustainable economy. To do this, we have, among other things, reviewed our organization and how we organize ourselves to create a safe working environment, from the point of view of workload, stress, burnout. We also pass this on to all our suppliers.
We ensure that sustainability is taken into account by our suppliers and that they read through and understand our various policies.
We price the event so that as many people as possible can participate and strive to always fill the stands to create a sustainable economy.
We work actively against corruption and bribery and if this occurs we expose wrongdoing immediately and provide a whistleblower service to have a safe environment to report this.
Social
For a sustainable organization, one of the most important parts is the employees and that they can meet their needs. We want to contribute to creating a society where people live a good life with equal conditions where we have a high tolerance.
We work according to our equal treatment plan and ensure that employees, volunteers, partners and participants work according to it.
We work hard to create a safe and secure event where we are well prepared.
We counteract discrimination and promote equal rights and opportunities regardless of gender, ethnic affiliation, belief, age, sexual orientation, disability.
We work to make the arena accessible to everyone based on the physical possibilities the arena gives us.
We give the public the opportunity to get more information about sustainability, spread awareness of a more sustainable lifestyle.
