BAUHAUS-galan was a spectators success. At the same time, the gala became more sustainable compared to previous years. The gala's carbon footprint decreased by about 100 tonnes compared to last year. The largest part is the investment in the SJ train between the Wanda Diamond League competitions in Oslo and Stockholm, where over 100 athletes, coaches, leaders and partners took the train, which resulted in a saving in air travel corresponding to approximately 97 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
It was also an organizer success where the transition from Adidas Stockholm Marathon and Minimarathon to BAUHAUS-galan took place in less than two hours and the gala could be carried out without any major problems. About 500 officials and volunteers were involved in working on the gala.
The competitions were a public success in a sun-drenched Stadium where 11,650 spectators and 1.25 million TV viewers got to see a new Swedish record by Andreas Almgren in the 3,000 meters in a discipline that incidentally had two national bests and four personal bests. Furthermore, Armand Duplantis was seen making three good world record attempts in pole vault. In addition, some of the world's best athletes showed themselves with great results, such as a world best in the 800 meters by Algerian Djamel Sedjati and by Ethiopian Lamecha Girma in the 3,000 meter hinder, despite the slightly unfavorable winds that blew at the stadium.
Several partners actively contributed to increasing the sustainability of the gala with major measurable effects in the environmental impact in the form of carbon dioxide emissions. Since the organizers of the Diamond League in Oslo and Stockholm chose to arrange their competitions directly after each other, athletes, leaders and others could be transported by train instead of by plane, saving about 100 flights from Africa, Asia, North America and Europe, to and from the Nordic region. In other cases, these need to be flown in twice for two competitions. SJ as a train partner has been involved in taking responsibility for the environment. The athletes were positive about the action taken by the organizers.
In addition to the Oslo-Stockholm train, the Arlanda Express was involved in running about 500 one-way trips with active people, leaders and others to and from Arlanda. Furthermore, Wangeskog Hyrcenter contributed to electrifying the Stadium throughout the competition weekend with, among other things, electric vehicles and battery backup for electricity for the TV buses. The latter saved over 1,000 cubic meters of diesel. Zeekr came in as a new car partner with electric cars for the competitions and helped reduce fossil fuel consumption.
All partners who contributed to actively reducing the environmental impact have been gathered under the name Green Events Sthlm Stadion and are presented at bauhausgalan.se
The doping tests that were done during the gala all showed negative results.
