BAUHAUS-galan’s family festival started in 2017 and included ’have-a-go’ activites and stage acts. That it should continue this year was an easy decision to make and to gain more space the event has moved to Östermalms IP sports ground, just a few javelin throws from the Stadium.
– We are delighted to be able to cooperate with En Frisk Generation, whose work really matches our focus on movement and physical activity. We give kids, who are not normally so active, the chance to try out athletics with the possibility to continue in a club if they want, explained Jan Kowaski, meeting director for BAUHAUS-galan.
Physical activity twice a week
The organisation, En Frisk Generation, helps 8 year-olds, via local authorities and schools.
Together with their parents and siblings they are able to try out, free-of-charge, different activities, twice a week outside of school time.
– This can be football, archery, salsa, gymnastics, orienteering, amongst other things. It’s all about feeling good, and as well as physical activity, we eat together so that kids can find out more about what the body needs in order to function in the best possible way, said Magdalena Byléhn, head of communications for the organisation En Frisk Generation.
On 10 June, 400 people (children and their families) from Stockholm districts of Haninge, Upplands Väsby, and Nacka are invited with their families, to the family festival at Östermalms IP and the Diamond League athletics meeting, BAUHAUS-galan.
