The Norwegians were excited to see their hurdler king have a first duel against one of their main opponents for the Olympic gold. Into the race they were even and they cut the last hedge at the same time. But, after a small fall at Warholm, the duel in the 400m hurdles ended with Brazilian victory. Alison Dos Santos won in the new world annual best of 46.63.
- It was important for self-confidence. To come out here, win in a good time and beat Karsten. It shows that we are on the right track, we are on the way to getting better, he says after the race.
Alison Dos Santos won the World Championships in 2022 and has set the third best time of all time. After having a heavier 2023, this year's season has started all the better. Before the upcoming Olympics, he sees himself as the favorite for the gold.
- I am the favourite, but there will be something really good there. Me, Karsten and Rai Benjamin (second all time) are all in very good shape.
On Sunday, he competes in Stockholm again, a city he likes.
- I love Stockholm, it's a very nice city. I have a good feeling and I always run well over there, he says and continues.
