– Last year’s competition in Stockholm is my best memory from BAUHAUS-galan! I set my season best in wonderful conditions and came third. I’m really looking forward to this year’s meeting, said Erika who, in Doha, shared second place with Olympic silver medallist Mirela Demireva and beat 2017 European Indoor Champion Airine Palsyte.
BAUHAUS-galan offers a good opportunity to jump high but a jump over 2 metres is probably needed for a win. Erika’s personal best is 1.97m but she has, without doubt, the capacity to jump higher than that.
Lasitskene vs new star Yaroslava Mahuchikh
The first six in the current high jump world ranking are confirmed for BAUHAUS-galan, including world number one, Mariya Lasitskene, who has won 60 of her 62 competitions since 2016.
Also included on the start list is world silver medallist Yulia Levchenko, together with the above-mentioned, Mirela Demireva, and also the young super-talent from Ukraine, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, who was the winner in Doha last Friday. At 17 years and 226 days she became the youngest ever female winner of a Diamond League event.
