High-class high jump awaits at BAUHAUS-galan

Both the world champion from last winter, Nicola Olyslagers, and the gold medalist from Budapest, Yaroslava Mahuchikh will come to Stockholm Olympic stadium on June 2nd.

Femke Bol, Armand Duplantis, Shericka Jackson and Daniel Ståhl have already been confirmed for BAUHAUS-galan. Now this list is filled with two more world champions, Nicola Olyslagers and Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

– I am very happy to jump into Stockholm for the third time in my career. Last time I competed there, I jumped a personal record and that prepared me to perform at the Tokyo Olympics where I cleared 2.02m and took home a silver medal, says Olyslagers and continues:

– Sweden is one of my favourite places in the world to jump on and always gives me good memories. I am convinced that this competition will give me the right preparation to perform at the Paris Olympics.

Olyslagers already has an Olympic silver medal and a World Championship bronze medal. During the winter, however, she got to step on top of the podium when she won gold at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow.  Second place in that competition was Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh, who, despite her young age, is a veteran of BAUHAUS-galan.

– The Diamond League meetings are very important for my preparations. BAUHAUS-galan is an important step just before the European Championships where I have a gold to defend from the last championship. I have good memories from my victory in Stockholm 2021 with one of my best results ever, 2.03. This will be my fifth time jumping at BAUHAUS-galan.

Just as for many others, the meet will be an important test before this summer’s championships. Maybe it will give us an indication of how the Olympics finals will end.
