Will Andreas Almgren break the Swedish record for the fifth time this year? Will Daniel Ståhl break Mykolas Alekna? What does Shericka Jackson's form look like? And who will win the duel between Karsten Warholm and Alison Dos Santos? We will get the answers on Thursday in Oslo.
Andreas Almgren comes to Bislett for his second 5000 meter race. Earlier this year he became the first Swede under 13 minutes and now he hopes to run faster. The conditions are there as thirteen of the race's runners have personal bests under 13 minutes. The best is the world record holder from Uganda, Joshua Cheptegei.
But there are also the Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha and Cheptegei's compatriot Jacob Kiplimo who share sixth place among the fastest runners of all time. For Almgren, the race could become a duel between him and Jimmy Gressier. The Frenchman has been two seconds faster than Almgren and is one of the few Europeans to have run better than him on the 10 km course. This will be a first test before the EC later this summer where the two can be seen as some of the favorites for the gold in the 10,000 m.
A duel also awaits Daniel Ståhl. The Swede has faced world record holder Mykolas Alekna twice this year and has been beaten both times. The same applies to Australian Matthew Denny, who is increasingly looking like a medal candidate before the Olympics. Simon Pettersson and the former world champion Andrius Gudžius will also come to Oslo.
The biggest duel during the gala must still be seen as the one between Karsten Warholm and Alison Dos Santos in the 400m hurdles. Two world champions and two of the fastest of all time on the stretch meet at the Bislett stadium. Dos Santos has already been under 47 seconds this year but Warholm will be carried by the home crowd. This could be something really extra. Dos Santos will then come to the BAUHAUS-gala and the question is whether he will do it as the favorite for the Olympic gold or as the second.
Another interesting start is Shericka Jackson, who is doing her second 200m race in Oslo. The all-time world number two opened the season in Marrakech with 22.82. Now the Jamaican is pitted against both Marie-Jose Ta Lou from the Ivory Coast and Briton Daryll Neita.
Third Swede is Gabriel Wallmark, who lines up in the three stage, where he is pitted against both the gold and silver medalists from last year's World Championship, Hugues Fabrice Zango and Lázaro Martínez
The gala in Norway ends with the men's 1500m. The increasingly run-crazy country will see its big star Jakob Ingebrigtsen meet his compatriot Narve Gilje Nordås there. Ingebrigtsen was injured during the winter and competed for the first time in Eugene this weekend. There he was beaten by Briton Josh Kerr in the English mile. Narve has a season best of 3.33.87 which he set in Doha's Diamond League.
The relationship between the two is said to be strained as Narve is still trained by Ingebrigtsen's father Gjert, who Jakob and some of his brothers broke up with.
The Diamond League in Oslo is the last before the BAUHAUS-gala. Several athletes come from Oslo to Stockholm, including pole vaulters Sam Kendricks, Christopher Nielsen and Ernest Obiena who settle in a fight before it is time for Stockholm where they will face Armand Duplantis.
