– It will really be something different, Susanna Kallur commented about competing in the midst of customers in a DIY superstore. Sanna will make this the first race of what will be her final indoor athletics season. She’ll compete over her favourite distance of 60m hurdles, the event in which she still holds the world record.
– I have jumped at special high jump indoor meetings before, but never at an event in a superstore, explained Sofie Skoog. The Olympic finalist will face Sweden’s world and European medallist, Emma Green, who will also finish her career this year.
– At BAUHAUS we believe that sport is extremely important, both for individuals and for society. Athletics especially fits the BAUHAUS brand since it’s a sport in which anyone can participate. Since 2015, we’ve been the title-sponsor for Stockholm’s IAAF Diamond League event, BAUHAUS-galan and it’s great that we can expand our involvement through BAUHAUS-galan Indoor, Johan Saxne, marketing director at BAUHAUS said.
Stefan Olsson, general secretary of the Swedish Athletics Federation also welcomes the initiative.
– We are delighted that our main sponsor, BAUHAUS, has taken yet another step to boost athletics in Sweden. And to do it in such an innovative way is especially fun.
BAUHAUS-galan Indoor will be a compact competition. The track will be installed in the Bromma superstore overnight. For two hours in the afternoon of 28 January, customers will be able to watch 60m and 60m hurdles together with high jump and pole vault while they are shopping. The superstore will remain open as usual.
