18 newly crowned continental Champions will compete at DN Galan on Thursday

Ten European Champions from last week’s competition in Zürich will compete in Stockholm Olympic Stadium on Thursday 21 August – five men and five women, including Sweden’s Meraf Bahta who won the 5000m. Probably the biggest name is the world pole vault record holder, Renaud Lavillenie from France.

They will be joined by eight new African Champions. The African Championships took place in Marrakech, Morroco from 10 to 14 August and among the champions travelling to Stockholm is current 800m world leader and Olympic silver medallist, Nijel Amos from Botswana, who has run 1:42.45 this year.
Another interesting name is Kenyan, Julius Yego who, last month, became Africa’s first ever Diamond League winner in a field event when he won the javelin in Glasgow.
