During the last years many of the greatest athletes have been giving their support for the Stockholm Olympic Stadium. Lately, the great profiles Usain Bolt, Lamine Diack, Michael Johnson, Sanya Richards, Blanka Vlasic and Jeremy Wariner, have personally given the warmest regards to this international stadium of athletics. They have given several key factors for the success: the great history, the skilled supporters, the architecture and the amasing atmosphere.
An athletic venue also in the future
The political majority in Stockholm has evaluated the possibilities to convert the athletic venue into a modern soccer/football court. In September 2009, the mayor of Stockholm, Sten Nordin, and the local minister of Sports, Madeleine Sjöstedt, announced that the number one event among Olympic sports won the battle of the stadium. Thereby, we have the responsibility to put on top events at the Stadium in the future. We all have to get together and bring our support to these future events to make them equally successful as the ones in the past. The planned events besides DN Galan (Samsung Diamond League), are the SPAR European Team Championships 2011, the Stockholm Marathon, the Stockholm Jubilee Marathon 1912-2012 and the Finnkampen 2013 (the annual team match between Sweden and Finland).
