Swedish success at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade

Never before has Sweden been so successful at a European Indoor Championships as in March this year. Only three nations earned more points than Sweden. At the 34th edition of the European Championships, which has taken place since 1970, half of the squad of 29 managed to claim a top-8 position.

Sweden won four medals and a further ten athletes finished in the top eight in their event.  Strong athletics nations such as Italy, Belarus and the Netherlands didn’t even manage half of Sweden’s total points. Our four Scandinavian neighbours, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland combined earned 41 compared with Sweden’s 63!

And we are confident it will happen again. It’s now two months until BAUHAUS-galan at Stockholm Olympic Stadium on Sunday 18 June. We’re looking forward to tough battles between the best Swedes and the world’s elite!
