Daniel Ståhl is confirmed for BAUHAUS-galan at Stockholm Olympic Stadium on June 7. The Swedish discus star will be joined by, among others, Matthew Denny, Kristjan Čeh, and the reigning Olympic champion Roje Stona. This sets the stage for an absolutely world-class field in front of the home crowd in Stockholm.
Daniel Ståhl is one of the biggest profiles in Swedish athletics and a recurring crowd favorite at BAUHAUS-galan. With an Olympic gold medal and three World Championship titles, he is one of the greatest discus throwers of all time. It is now confirmed that he will return to Stockholm Olympic Stadium to face several of his top rivals.
“I’m really excited to compete at Stockholm Olympic Stadium in June. This is my home arena, and having so many friends and supporters cheering me on always makes it extra special. The support from the stands always gives me extra energy. My training has gone really well this winter, so I’m very much looking forward to getting the season started and hopefully throwing really far,” says Daniel Ståhl, who opens his season already this weekend in Norrköping.
The competition will be extremely tough. Australia’s Matthew Denny, bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will compete in Stockholm. Denny stood out last spring when he threw 74.78 meters in the USA, placing him second all-time (the world record was set in the same competition by Mykolas Alekna). At the 2025 World Championships, he finished just outside the podium.
Also competing will be Slovenia’s Kristjan Čeh, world champion in 2022 and one of the most accomplished active throwers in the world. The field is rounded out by Roje Stona, who pulled off a surprise Olympic gold in Paris 2024 with an Olympic record of 70.00 meters.
Mykolas Alekna has recently undergone surgery for a serious pectoral muscle injury and will therefore not be able to participate.
BAUHAUS-galan will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Stockholm Olympic Stadium and is part of the Wanda Diamond League.
