– I have been fortunate to have an amazing season so far and I can’t wait for two of the most exciting races that are coming up for me. The European Championships in Zürich is obviously the main goal, but being invited to run the 3000 steeplechase at DN Galan at Stockholm Olympic Stadium will be magical. I’m hoping that the stadium will be full which will give me golden wings to carry me to new records and higher rankings. I will do everything in my power to give the fans an exciting race, says Charlotta who’s Swedish record is 9:23.96.

With her strong performance in Glasgow the Gothenburg star is currently number one in Europe and ranked among the ten best steeplechasers in the world. The extrovert Charlotta has instantly become a media favourite with her positive and confident disposition.

Swedish female middle distance running is improving on a global level and Abeba Aregawi has already announced that she will run her specialist distance, 1500m, at DN Galan.

And Swedish elite athletics overall is on an upward trend. The best will be on display in Stockholm on 21 August. Anders Tallgren, DN Galan meeting director, is delighted with the situation:
– It’s fantastic that Swedes are performing so well across the whole range of events.  The European Championships in Zurich will be exciting and Stockholm Stadium is looking forward to welcoming the team home with the first IAAF Diamond League meeting after the Championships.
