At the European Athletics Championships Moa Hjelmer made her presence known on the international scene with a sensational victory and two Swedish national records, 51.40 and 51.13. At DN Galan she’ll be competing against the best in the world and in her current form, she’ll be one to watch.
– I look forward to a sold-out Stockholm Olympic Stadium. It’s my home track and it will be a very special experience, says Moa.
Hjelmer runs for Spårvägens Friidrottsklubb, one of the host-clubs of DN Galan. In light of her recent performances in the Finnish capital, Hjelmer is hoping for a spot on the Swedish Olympic team. If she is selected, then DN Galan will be her first competition after the London Games.
Moa Hjelmer is a Stockholm native through and through. She lives in the popular Södermalm part of the city and is looking forward with great anticipation to the athletic meeting in the classic Stockholm Olympic Stadium at 17 August.
Witnessing Hjelmer’s fantastic running style and mental strength is always a pleasure. At the World Athletics Championships in Daegu and the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Hjelmer reached the semi-finals. For all athletics fans, watching Moa Hjelmer run in her home city amongst the world’s elite will be a truly unique experience. She can expect huge local support at DN Galan.
