Fantastic triple-jump final resulted in gold for Christian Taylor

The triple-jump final at the London Olympics became a classic competition with American Christian Taylor as the eventual winner after a difficult start. At DN-Galan he's hoping to jump even further. Photo: Deca Text & Bild

Christian Taylor won the World Championships in Daegu last Summer and showed on Thursday evening in the British Capital that he is really a championship jumper. After two foul jumps, Taylor managed 17.15 in the third and then 17.81 in his fourth gold-winning jump. This put him 19 cm ahead of Will Claye.

The Stadium record in Stockholm is 17.93 set by Kenny Harrison some 22 years ago. Taylor’s personal best is 17.96 indicating he has the capacity to break the stadium record which would result in him becoming one diamond richer.
