BAUHAUS-galan – Thursday 30 May 2019
The meet is held at the historical Stockholm Olympic Stadium and is a leading track and field meeting and one of the largest annual sporting events in Sweden.
BAUHAUS-galan offers a unique blend of traditional athletics in a small historic arena and a futuristic sports show with a mix of music, sound effects and the latest technology. The result is an atmosphere which has made the meet well known and highly respected all over the world. 83 world records have been set here since 1912 – far more than at any other arena in the world.
BAUHAUS-galan 2018 was one of the very best in recent years with no less than four new stadium records and all of them was awarded with diamonds. However, the highlight was Juan Miguel Echevarria's fantastic long jump of 8.83 – only 12 centimeters from the world record, although it came in a slightly too strong tailwind of 2.1 m/s. But only five men has ever jumped further regardless of wind conditions.
The four stadium records: Sandi Morris 4.86 in pole vault, Abderrahmane Samba 47.41 at 400m hurdles, Fedrick Dacres 69.67 in discus and Brianna McNeal 12.38 at 100m hurdles.
On Thursday 30 May 2019 we are looking forward to another world class gala at Stockholm Olympic Stadium! Extra events: Men 800m and women 1500m and pole vault.
