Kids Tour has never been bigger!

BAUHAUS-galan Kids Tour is a mobile athletics track designed for kids which tours Stockholm in May and June. And the tour is bigger than ever – thirteen stops are planned, which means that the total of 10,000 kids who have already tried out the track is set to increase substantially. The premiere took place in connection with the Swedish league football match AIK vs IFK Göteborg, and there was a large crowd which gathered outside the Friends Arena in Solna on 22 April.

– There were 20,000 spectators for the match and about 150 kids tried out the track. We have a good schedule for the summer and I’m convinced that we’ll attract a record number of participants, said Tobias Jonsson who, together with Isak Hampel Klang, is project manager for Kids Tour.

Triathlon innovation
Kids Tour is in its fourth year and is a collaboration between the athletics organisation, Stadionklubbarna, and Stockholm City. An innovation this year is a triathlon, which includes high jump and long jump together with the track.

– At Friends Arena there were many who tried out the new events and the high jump was the most popular.
The Kids Tour caters for kids between the ages of 14 and 15 who can try out athletics-inspired activities which demand flexibility, strength, balance and speed. They can challenge themselves or compete against others and they can bring along friends and family to join in and cheer them on.

Sverigedagarna with 100,000 visitors
Next up for Kids Tour is Tele2 Arena in Johanneshov on Saturday 5 May when Hammarby and Sundsvall will meet in the football league. The last weekend in May is Sverigedagarna – a huge festival on Djurgården.

– This is over 3 days and last year it had 100,000 visitors so it’s going to be an excellent location for Kids Tour, said Tobias.
