Last winter he did what no other Swedish men’s runner had done before, he won a medal at a World Championship. This summer he will come to the BAUHAUS-gala to do a final form test before the European Championship.
As a 17-year-old, he made his first international championship. In Prague 2015 he ran the 800m indoor European Championship and since then he has only missed two championships. In Berlin 2018, he took his first
international medal when he was second at the European Championships.
Seven years later, he took his second. Last winter, Andreas Kramer won a silver at the Indoor WC in Glasgow. Something no other Swedish men’s runner has done before.
The outdoor season has already started for the Swede and in his first race, the Diamond League events in Xiamen, he ran under 1.45 outright.
At the BAUHAUS-gala, the already Olympic-qualified Swede will, among other things, face the World Championship 2023 bronze medalist Ben Pattison and 2022 silver medalist Djamel Sedjati.
For the BAUHAUS-gala, Kramer says the following about the race:
– I am really looking forward to the gala this year. With the home crowd in place, it will be a perfect gen-rep before the EC the following week. Hopefully I’ll be ready to fight for top positions.
In addition to the names already mentioned, there will also be 1.43 runners Yanis Meziane, Slimane Moula and Tshepiso Masalelat. With the right speed control, it can go really fast. Maybe Kramer can even become the first Swede under 1.44?
