Twelve World Champions will compete at DN Galan
The IAAF World Championships came to a close last Sunday and many of the newly crowned World Champions will compete at DN Galan. Sweden’s own World Champion at 1500m, Abeba Aregawi will run 800m and face Eunice Sum of Kenya who won that event in Moscow with a personal best. World Champion Meseret Defar confirmed for DN Galan
Queen of distance running, Meseret Defar, has run well so often in Swedish competitions that she has a ‘special relationship’, with our country. DN Galan still amongst the world's best athletics meets
On Friday 17 August, the Stockholm Stadium Clubs arranged the 46th DN Galan as part of the Samsung Diamond League. The event went smoothly despite organizational challenges in the run-up to the meet with a number of key personnel leaving the organization creating difficult pre-conditions. But the event itself ended up including 11 Olympic gold-medallists and an additional 27 medallists from the London Games. Swedish Diamond League winner Kim Amb ready for DN Galan
Moscow-bound Kim Amb has had a brilliant javelin season so far with a victory at the Lausanne Diamond League meeting and a personal best throw of 84m and 33 cm. DN Galan has just announced that he will compete in a pre-Finnkamp on 22 August which will be a taster for the classic Sweden vs Finland match which is returning to Stockholm Stadium on 7 and 8 September. DN Galan announces World number one David Oliver
The world rankings for 110m hurdles are currenly topped with 13.03 from the charismatic American David Oliver. He was the victor at Saturday’s Anniversary Games in London and now leads the Diamond League ranking. His focus now turns to the World Championships in Moscow and then DN Galan on 22 August. Historic Swedish Diamond League evening in Lausanne, victories for Abeba and Kim
