Stockholm’s IAAF Diamond League meeting enters into an exciting partnership with BAUHAUS!

Stockholm’s IAAF Diamond League meeting is entering into an exciting partnership with BAUHAUS, which means that, for the first time since 1967 the competition will change its name from DN Galan and will now be known as Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics.

Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics is one of fourteen events, which make up the global IAAF Diamond League series. The International Association of Athletics Federations has 213 member countries but only 11 of them host an IAAF Diamond League meeting. The prestigious competition will take place on 30 July at Stockholm Olympic Stadium, the venue, which holds the world record for the highest number of world records – a total of 83. Since the first event in 1967, Dagens Nyheter, the national daily newspaper, has been the title sponsor and the organisers, Stadionklubbarna, are extremely thankful for this partnership. With today’s news of the new agreement with BAUHAUS we are entering a new era in international athletics.  There is much to look forward to within the context of this new dynamic partnership.

– At BAUHAUS we believe that sport is incredibly important, both for the individual and for society. That is why a large share of our sponsorship is invested in sport. We are already the main sponsor of the Swedish Athletics Federation and with Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics our role as a partner to Swedish athletics becomes even stronger. It is exciting to support the new generation of stars, which is now emerging within the sport. Athletics is loved by the Swedish people, it has deep traditions and many strong role models. We also hope that, through  Stockholm BAUHAUS Athletics , we can help create the future generation from today’s young talent, commented Johan Saxne, Head of Marketing and Information at BAUHAUS, Sweden.

– It is a historic day for Stadionklubbarna when we change the name of one the world’s major athletics meetings. BAUHAUS is coming in and wants to work with us to create something new and exciting as we enter the second cycle of the IAAF Diamond League series which will run till 2019. We want to continue to inspire the people of Stockholm with star quality and at the same time offer both tradition and diversity, said Jan Kowalski from the organisings clubs, Stadionklubbarna.
