Three shining diamonds found their owners at the 46th DN Galan

The athletes and audience experienced perfect conditions at this year's DN Galan. With a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, sun and without a single breeze, the world's elite gathered to enjoy a night of athletics at the highest level. Some seven stadium records were broken by five athletes in three different events. The result was three one-carat diamonds for each new record holder; Julija Zaripova, 3000m steeplechase, Sandra Perkovic, discus and Valerie Adams in the shot put.

Yuliya Zaripova ran from the front for almost the entire distance finishing in 9:05:02 which put her up to second place in the all-time lists and the third fastest steeplechase of all time, only seven seconds from the world record. In the discus competition the stadium record was improved four times by three women. It was the Olympic Champion Sandra Perkovic who got the final say with a fantastic 68.77, just a little over thirty centimeters from the Croation record she set at the London Olympics.

In the shot put, Valerie Adams had three successful throws over 20 metres and won in 20.26. It means that Adams is undefeated this year. Results page
