World Champion Meseret Defar confirmed for DN Galan

Queen of distance running, Meseret Defar, has run well so often in Swedish competitions that she has a ‘special relationship’, with our country. Defar’s long resume of course, includes Olympic 5000m gold in Athens 2004 and London last year.
– Stockholm Olympic Stadium has a long history of outstanding middle and long distance performances. Now the enthusiastic Stockholm public has another chance to see running legend, Meseret Defar, announced DN Galan’s Head of Operations, Anders Tallgren.
 
World high jump champion also ready for DN Galan
The women’s high jump will include many of the competitors from the World Championships final in Moscow. Gold medallist Svetlana Shkolina from Russia will arrive in Stockholm with the self-confidence of a victory on home soil. The field also includes three of the top five in the Championships, Brigetta Barrett, Anna Chicherova and Sweden’s Emma Green Tregaro who with 1.97 recorded her highest jump of the year in the final where she was fifth.

The action begins at 17:14 local time (GMT/UTC+2) with the women’s high jump and the main two-hour programme and global broadcast starts at 18:00 local time with the women’s 400m hurdles.
