World’s best go head-to-head at DN Galan

Aregawi is number one at the global annual top list with a 3:56.54 performance at the Samsung Diamond League gala in Rome at the end of May. Aregawi also won the Oslo Diamond League event establishing herself as the best this year in the 1500 m.
 
At DN Galan, she’ll now be facing the world number two this year, Genzebe Dibaba, winner of the Diamond League gala in Shanghai with 3:57.77. Stockholm’s 29-year-old stadium record of 3:57.12, held by legendary Mary Decker, must surely be under threat.
 
Stockholm-based Abeba Aregawi has high expectations for DN Galan in the classic Stockholm Stadium.
– I feel very comfortable in Sweden and am I’m looking forward to competing in Stockholm.
Just like Aregawi and so many others this season, Genzebe Dibaba is training hard for the Olympics in London that will take place just prior to DN Galan.
– Currently my focus is the Olympics. I hope to come to Stockholm with an Olympic medal.
