World’s fastest man to Stockholm

Christian Coleman is confirmed for BAUHAUS-galan. After a silver medal for 100m at the 2017 World Championships in London, the 22 year-old American is the new superstar in the athletics world. Photo: Deca Text&Bild

The lightning fast American is seen as the successor the world is waiting for to fill the space left by Usain Bolt. In 2017 he held the world’s fastest 100m time, 9.82. Christian Coleman will run 200m at BAUHAUS-galan, a distance he also excelled at in 2017. His 19.85 was the third fastest in the world which makes him one of the clear favourites ahead of the Diamond League event at Stockholm Olympic Stadium.

Fastest in the world over 60 metres
In the winter Coleman broke through with a phenomenal race and set a world record time of 6.34 for 60m indoors. In doing so he bettered the 20 year-old record of Maurice Green by five hundredths of a second, a significant amount over such a short distance and testimony to how incredibly fast Coleman is able to run. The 22 year-old comes to BAUHAUS-galan with some fine achievements under his belt and the silver medal from the World Championships in London for 100m can be seen as the highlight. Now it remains to be seen if he can break Michael Johnson’s 200m stadium record from 1996 of 19.77.
