Meritorious discus trio ready for BAUHAUS-galan

The BAUHAUS-galan starting list for women’s discus, where Vanessa Kamga has already qualified, is being filled with big names. Olympic finalists Jorinde van Klinken and Marike Steinacker are qualified, as well as Laulauga Tausaga, who in 2023 became the first American discus thrower to win a World Championship title.

Vanessa Kamga had one of the stronger Swedish Olympic performances in 2024 when she threw to fifth place in the final. At BAUHAUS-galan on June 15, she will face two of the final opponents.

Dutchwoman Jorinde van Klinken, with three European Championship medals under her belt, returns to Stockholm after second place here in 2023. van Klinken finished seventh in the Olympic final. German Marike Steinacker, who finished fourth – just ahead of Kamga – is making her first BAUHAUS-galan.

“BAUHAUS-galan is always one of my favorite competitions and I’m looking forward to competing in Stockholm again this weekend. I threw well at the beginning of the year, and I’m starting to get that feeling back again. We haven’t really seen the results in competition reflect what I do in training yet, so hopefully the atmosphere of BAUHAUS-galan and the delicious vegan food at the hotel can make me throw at the level we’ve been waiting for,” says van Klinken.

Laulauga Tausaga is also making her first Diamond League gala at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium. The 2023 World Championship gold medalist is in good form and has made an impressive 70.72 this year. It will be, among others, a thrilling discus competition in Stockholm to look forward to.
