Bednarek confirmed for BAUHAUS-galan – to make his first competition in Sweden

American sprint star Kenneth Bednarek has been confirmed for BAUHAUS-galan at Stockholm Olympic Stadium on June 7. It will be the first time the double Olympic silver medallist competes in Sweden. In the 200 meters, he will face, among others, Erik Erlandsson.

Kenneth Bednarek is one of the biggest names in the world over 200 meters. The American has won silver at three global championships (twice at the Olympics and once at the World Championships) and arrives in Stockholm as one of the event’s main stars. When BAUHAUS-gala takes place at Stockholm Olympic Stadium on June 7, it will also mark his first competition on Swedish soil.

With a personal best of 19.57, Bednarek is the eighth fastest of all time in the 200 meters. He also has strong credentials in Diamond League competition, with final victories in both 2021 and 2024.

Among those on the starting line is Sweden’s Erik Erlandsson, who in recent years has established himself as the country’s top 200-meter sprinter. Erlandsson made his international breakthrough when he finished fourth in the 200 meters at the 2024 European Championships in Rome and has continued to improve on the distance since.

“It’s going to be incredibly fun to run at the Stadium again! I’m eager for redemption from last year and really looking forward to showing what I can do,” says Erlandsson.

Also on the start list are Courtney Lindsey, Alexander Ogando, and Robert Gregory, all ranked among the top ten in the world.

BAUHAUS-gala will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Stockholm Olympic Stadium and is part of the Wanda Diamond League.
